Sito Archeologico Monte San Martino Lundo

Located on the mountain of the same name at an altitude of 985 metres, the archaeological site of San Martino bears the traces of a fortified settlement from the late antiquity. Founded around the middle of the 5th and 6th centuries AD, the settlement would have been the scene of clashes during the era of the barbarian invasions. An accredited hypothesis identifies precisely in the site that castrum Ennemase of southern Trentino plundered by the Franks in 590 in an episode cited by the early medieval historian Paolo Diacono, in his "Historia Langobardorum". You can reach the area, which also includes the remains of a religious building, on foot along three different routes of medium difficulty: from the town of Lundo (about 2.5 hours round trip), from Vigo Lomaso and from San Giovanni al Monte - Arco (about 1 hour in both cases).
