Museo della Civiltà Solandra
The story of 20th century life in the Val di Sole is told by the museum's substantial collection of tools from the period and faithful reconstructions of household settings, from the kitchen to the bedroom.
Crop farmer, livestock farmer, joiner, blacksmith, weaver, copper smith: these were the main trades in the Val di Sole in the 20th century and they have now been brought back to life in the ethnographic museum in Malé, which is located in the first floor rooms of the former magistrate's building. The meticulously arranged display of the original tools of the time, including the loom, the oscillating churn, the model of the hydraulic sawmill, and the reconstruction of the most inhabited places in the house, the "stua" (the wood-panelled bedroom) and the kitchen, where people warmed themselves in winter by the warmth of the hearth, make for an enthralling visit. A section of the museum is dedicated to the illustrious mycologist Don Giacomo Bresadola, who was born and lived in Val di Sole, with a new multimedia exhibition and a collection of personal items and illustrated plates.
ACCESSIBILITY
At the Museo della Civiltà Solandra you can live an immersive sound experience. Close your eyes and immerse yourself in a festive day of a peasant family from Val di Sole in the early 1900s through soundtracks placed in different parts of the room. The museum experience is fully accessible. At the entrance there is a station with headphones that allow those with a visual disability to understand how the internal spaces are organized and how the speakers that reproduce the movements and sounds are positioned in the logic of surround systems or with sources located at different points of the environment. The entire museum is also accessible by wheelchair, thanks to ramps that allow you to pass the internal steps.
