The Rifugio Monti Pallidi was built before construction of the great Dolomites road, at the foot of Piz Ciavazes and Sass Pordoi at Pian Schiavaneis (between Passo Sella and Passo Pordoi). In winter - if you’re on skis - the refuge is right on Sella Ronda ski tour, while in summer it’s in a perfect position to set out for walks and climbs in the Sella and Sassolungo groups. There are climbing facilities nearby, but if you like to take it easy you’ll appreciate the fantastic views from the window of the dining room, which - in cold weather - is heated by a large open fire. Open From June 20 to late September Before leaving for your hike, always contact the manager to verify the actual opening of the mountain hut Walks It takes just 45 minutes to walk from the Rifugio Monti Pallidi to Passo Pordoi (difficulty E). If, instead, you walk up the Val Lasties you’ll get to the rocky plateau of the Sella Group and the Rifugio Boe in 3 hours 40 minutes (difficulty E). In the opposite direction, towards Passo Sella, it takes less than an hour to walk to the Col Rodella basin, at the foot of Sassolungo (difficulty E).

Contact & Directions
The refuge is accessible by car following the Dolomites road (SS48/SS42) from Canazei in the direction of Passo Sella to Pian Schiavaneis (about 6km). On foot: from the little church of San Floriano in Canazei walk towards the old sawmill and follow the footpath (no. 647) to Lupo Bianco then continue from there alongside the main Dolomites road (1 hour, difficulty E).
